FACT vs. FICTION

It has come to our attention that there is quite a bit of misunderstanding when it comes to heating with oil.  Here are a few facts to help dispel any confusion…

MYTH:  Oil heat is dirty.

FACT:  Oil heat is clean, odorless, efficient, and dependable.

MYTH:  Heating oil tanks must be removed due to environmental regulations.

FACT:  There is no federal law or regulation that requires the removal of a properly functioning residential heating oil tank that is presently in use.

MYTH:  Heating oil tanks are unsafe.

FACT:  Heating oil in liquid form does not burn.  Heating oil must be heated to above 140°F before it will support combustion.

MYTH:  Oil furnaces are a dinosaur in the basement.

FACT:  Many advances have been made to modern oil fired equipment, making oil heat extremely efficient and dependable.  An Allied Washoe service technician will be happy to assess the efficiency of your current equipment and make recommendations, if needed.
